SEAT's new Leon has opened for order, after being officially unveiled to the world earlier this year.
The Leon has been a cornerstone of the SEAT range since 1999, racking up more than 2.2 million sales globally – more than 250,000 of those in the UK – across three generations of the model.
Since the wraps came off back in January, the new Leon has received plenty of attention from the press.
Autocar said: '2020 SEAT Leon launches with major tech gains and hybrid power. Leon offers more rear space, new infotainment and electrified petrol engines'.
Auto Express enthused: 'SEAT's engineers have worked hard to make the Leon's ambient lighting more than just a personalisation gimmick'.
While the verdict from What Car? was: 'In the same way that Antonio Banderas grew from being a relative unknown from Spanish show business to mixing it with the best in Hollywood, the SEAT Leon has steadily risen to be considered among the top tier of the family hatchback class.'
The new Leon comes in hatchback and estate, starting at less than £20,000. As part of SEAT's easymove strategy, customers need only choose the trim level, engine and colour on the online configurator – each has its own unique equipment to make it stand out.
Director of SEAT, Richard Harrison commented: "The Leon has been a huge success for SEAT both globally and in the UK.
"This all-new generation Leon takes the strengths of the previous award winner to new heights, with design, technology, efficient engines and a generous equipment list in addition to the great value for money we've maintained.
"This combination makes new Leon both an emotional and rational purchase, whether it's a private or fleet buyer."
Customers can choose from the initial trim line up (SE, SE Dynamic, FR and FR First Edition) and five power outputs (110PS 1.0 TSI manual; 115PS 1.0 3-cylinder TSI manual; 130PS and 150PS 1.5 TSI manual and150PS 1.5 eTSI MHEV DSG). Over the coming weeks additional engines will become available and the highly anticipated Leon e-Hybrid (PHEV) will join the line up in the Summer.
