A new era of CO2-free mobility

ID.3 is the first Volkswagen built on the new modular electric drive matrix (MEB) platform and will be built at Volkswagen’s first all-electric vehicle production facility in Germany.
With external dimensions comparable to Golf, the ID.3 provides a vehicle interior that is more spacious than any other vehicle in its category. It will also be competitively priced, with the entry-level version priced at under €30,000.

Impressive battery range

There will be three batteries available with varying ranges: a smaller battery option with a range of up to 205 miles, a medium battery (around 270 mile range) and a larger battery with a maximum range of around 340 miles.

It’s possible to recharge the ID.3 1ST within 30 minutes to cover a range of around 180 miles with a 100 kW charging output – a significantly longer range than had previously been possible in the compact vehicle segment.
Volkswagen will offer a guarantee of eight years or 99,000 miles on ID.3 batteries, helping to put customers’ minds at ease who may be worried about battery life.

Design of an electrifying future

The ID.3 brings a new design quality to the compact vehicle category and represents a new, “electric way of thinking”. ID.3 has LED lighting in multiple areas and has a front section with iconic, striking C-pillars and 18-inch, 19-inch or 20-inch sporty alloy wheels.

Because electric cars don’t need large cooling ports, the front-end design is completely different to any other Volkswagen car. The headlights take prominence, with interactive matrix LED headlights with dynamic light assist main-beam control. This feature has a camera on the windscreen which analyses road users ahead and oncoming traffic. The main beam automatically switches on at speeds over 37mph and remains active without dazzling oncoming traffic.
The headlights also offer a more interactive element for customers. When a driver approaches a parked ID.3 1ST, the headlights will look at them and the car will flash its lights at the driver.
The rear of the car has a glass boot lid, set apart by its dark colour. It stretches across the entire width of the vehicle. The large rear window is defined towards the sides by vertical aerodynamic elements towards the bottom. The section is divided by striking, horizontally arranged and very slim LED tail light clusters.
The ID.3 1ST’s glossy, panoramic sliding/tilting glass roof edged in black is the largest of the entire Volkswagen model range and not only gives a view to the sky, but also adds headroom – contributing to a new feeling of spaciousness.
The ID.3’s interior offers more room than any other car in its category. The five seats are complemented by a boot volume of 385 litres behind the second row of seats.

A more intuitive experience

The ID.3 takes driver interaction to another level. A newly developed, centrally positioned, 10-inch touch display provides drivers with all important information.
ID. Light supports drivers with an LED strip during navigation and can prompt them to brake in the event of any dangers.
An optional augmented reality (AR) head-up display also projects all relevant information directly onto the windscreen – this information is visually positioned within a range of three to ten metres ahead of the vehicle.
The car also uses intelligent natural voice control. Drivers or front passengers can speak to the ID.3, simply by saying “hello ID.”. ID. Light will light up the side of the car interior according to who is speaking to the car. Drivers can also connect ID.3 to their smartphone with App-Connect within seconds.
